DUMAI – The 2024 Dumai City Sports Championship (Kejurkot) competition, volleyball, was officially closed by the Mayor of Dumai, represented in this case by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Dumai City, H Indra Gunawan, Tuesday (23/7/2024).
“Thank God, today the Dumai Regional Championship for volleyball has finished,” said the Dumai Regional Secretary when asked the closing and presentation of medals to the winning athletes. He conveyed that the overall purpose of this Championship is to attract potential athletes, improve sports performance, promote sports, and provide competition experience for athletes.
“This event also aims to be a means of evaluating sports performance development in order to produce prospective athletes at the Dumai, provincial, national and even international levels,” he said. The Regional Secretary further said that the implementation of the 2024 Dumai National Championship was in line with Dumai’s preparations to host the 2026 Riau Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) together with Siak Regency.
Volleyball is one of the sports that will be contested. “We hope that this volleyball competition can really be used as a warm-up and training for athletes as an effort to attract talented athletes who can bring a good name to Dumai City in facing the upcoming Porprov,” said the Regional Secretary.
Meanwhile, KONI Chairman Dumai Agustiawan congratulated the winning team. He also conveyed his appreciation to all the teams who competed to enliven the Dumai Kejurkot volleyball sport in 2024. “Hopefully this positive activity can motivate people to continue exercising and our athletes will be increasingly taken into account,” he concluded.
